Flying high on airport innovation

How going global to diversify and reduce risk has paid dividends for Airbiz.

Airbiz is a highly successful consultancy that specialises in designing and developing airports. They're a boutique business in a single industry with a limited number of clients - which, by nature, can leave them vulnerable during economic downturns. It was for that reason, says CEO Greg Fordham, that Airbiz chose geographic expansion overseas to reduce risk.

With more than two thousand projects and studies under its belt, in 50 countries on five continents, it was certainly the right growth model for the company, albeit with a great deal of patience. Greg says that getting actively involved with industry groups and forming meaningful partnerships was critical in their growth.

Innovation has been the cornerstone of Airbiz's work over the last 30 years, and Greg offers his views on how airports of the future will look and operate, and how that will impact travellers.
