Is your health damaging your business?

Listen to a Preview

Taking care of yourself can do a lot to help you take care of your business.

Maintaining good health is more than just a lifestyle issue - it makes good business sense. Dr John Lang, of Good Health Solutions, says an individual's productivity will drop by two and a half percent for every risk factor they possess, like excess weight, high cholesterol or high blood pressure. Neck and back pain are the most prevalent problems affecting workplace performance, followed by allergies and hay fever, but obesity is the big threat. With almost two-thirds of adult Australians now obese or overweight, the consequences are showing up daily, particularly in increased rates of diabetes and back pain. Employee health schemes are important in monitoring workplace health and offering timely advice. Exercise is important too - many business people say they don't have the time, but perhaps they're not managing their time properly. They should see the time spent as an investment in the rest of their lives.
