Social media's a great way to enhance career prospects - but you'd better behave yourself!

LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook - they're all platforms that can helpenhance your career prospects. While LinkedIn is the best known for professional networking, Twitter and Facebook will both help build your profile. For example, you can use Twitter to show colleagues and acquiantances that you're "plugged into" emerging topics and trends, or you can write posts on Facebook with news and updates about yourself. But there are also big dangers about social media interaction, especially if you allowyourselve to be viewed in an unprofessional light. A fewill-considered comments or actions can be viewed by recruiters and potential employers and before you know it, you've just blown your chances of the next big career move and all that goes with it. One tip: try googling yourself to find out what your profile really looks like on the 'net - and remove negative material.Next tip: build positive visibility - make sure all references about or by you online are positive messages and place you in a good light.
