The mid-year reporting season throws up some surprises, both good and bad - and some buying opportunities too.

The recent barrage of extraordinary weather events - storms, floods and cyclones - has taken its toll on various industry sectors, especially agriculture. But some - like insurance and mining - are already bouncing back, and Elio D'Amato, chief executive of Lincoln Stock Doctor, says it's not the time to bail out of those stocks. Look for opportunities instead. He's been keeping a close eye on the company reporting season, which has thrown up a number of surprises, both good and bad. There have been some changes in Lincoln's Star Stock listings, as well as confirmation that well-managed companies with strong fundamentals can be relied on to come through and justify investors' faith in them.
