Tips To Keep Staff Costs Down

Date: 09/08/2010

While your business is growing, think outside the square to keep staff costs under control.

The GFC may be behind us, but pressure on business costs is ever-present. Luke Neale, of Save on Bills, has some useful tips on how to keep staff costs under control, even when your business is expanding. Once you've made sure that you're getting the best out of your existing staff, he says, think outside the square to save money and improve your bottom line. Outsourcing, particularly of labour-intensive administrative work, is one way. Internet services can be particularly useful there. Contractors, working variable hours according to workload, can be another way to reduce overheads. It's important, though, to follow up references and carry out background checks on people who will be representing your business. University students seeking placement as interns in mid-course are usually highly knowledgeable about IT functions and social networking. And open-source internet programs, often free-of-charge, are also worth exploring for savings.
