Economic update

On the Eve of the 2010 Federal Budget, watch out for a sharp revision in economic forecasts and signs of of tax reform, warns economist and forecaster Professor Neville Norman

On the Eve of the 2010 Federal Budget, as the Government heads straight for an election, Neville Norman offers plenty of watchouts for business. Be alert to strongly revised economic forecasts or for clawbacks in the stimulus packages. But don't be alarmed by the highly unprofessional comments of some financial commentators in response to the recent interest rate hikes. Neville points out that a more accurate perspective will show that the Global Financial Crisis has actually done us considerable favours in reducing interest rates - if only we had heeded Neville's advice last year and locked in when they were down!
