No formal education, but passion, determination and loyalty to staff, suppliers and customers - Andrew Gray's recipe for business success.

Invited to leave school at 15, Andrew Gray had few of the traditional characteristics of a potential entrepreneur. But he had an inherited love of cooking and determination in abundance. After a variety of jobs in the food industry, he took the plunge into his own business, learning as he went - passionate, but not too proud to ask for advice from people he admired. Nine years later, he runs Raw Materials, a very successful import-export business sourcing fine ingredients worldwide, with a TV studio producing cooking programs as a side dish. Modestly, he attributes his success to his wife and his team of staff, and to the customers who've been loyal to him from the start. But perhaps they all see something his schoolteachers missed.
