Fighting Fit For Business

For Martin and Jeanette Hall, the martial arts sport of Taekwondo is more than a passion. It's a consuming business venture that has ridden the ups and downs of growth - from the challenges of interstate franchising to the pinnacle of professional success in coaching to Olympic Gold.

Martin has been a leading player in Australian Taekwondo for many years, competing nationally and then internationally from the age of 13. Jeanette was one of the first women in Australia to take up the sport.

Their combined passion moved from competing to teaching. And as the fitness craze of the 80s took hold, they opted for a humble run-down swimming pool in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick to get things finally underway. That business has just celebrated its 21st birthday.

They've tried franchising but only partially succeeded. And now, they've invested in a 1.2 million dollar development in a new 'super club' in Melbourne's Tullamarine.

Jeanette Hall takes Heather Dawson on the journey. First, has martial arts discipline helped achieve success?
