The Federal Government's carbon pricing scheme targets major polluters, but they're likely to pass cost increases on down the supply chain to SMEs and - eventually - their customers. Roland Burt of M+K Lawyers says the aim of the legislation is to change behaviour at all levels of business,and thus reduce carbon emissions, so flow-on effects must be expected. He says it's important to look at contractual arrangements, particularly where supply pricing is concerned.
